Happy Horsemanship Camps

We accept all levels of horse lovers and riders in the camps ages 7-14. We have multiple staff members, 2 camp counselors and numerous trained volunteers to assist and oversee activities. We divide the kids by ages and they rotate out for their riding portion of camp with our instructors.

Our curriculum is taught by a D20 teacher with over 20 years experience.

We recommend that kids wear long pants, closed-toes shoes (preferably boots), and layer top with either a light jacket or pull over. Additionally, a change of clothes on hand is advised as messy or fun situations do occur from time to time.

Kids with allergies are encouraged to take allergy medication each morning.

Kids will need to bring a drink, we provide snacks. Please do not send any nut products with your child in case their are others with allergies.

All day campers, please pack a lunch, snacks and plenty of drinks. We have a refrigerator in the mudroom so your child can store their lunch and there will be Pepsi products available for purchase (including Aquafina) so they can stay hydrated through out the day.

We suggest bringing a labeled bottle of sunscreen.

Parents must sign kids into and out of camp. Please Do Not drop children off. We need name and photo ID of all authorized pick up drivers.

Summer Horse Camps

EER horse camp for youth is a wonderful 4 day long experience for beginner and established young horse lovers! These summer horse camps are 4 days long (Monday to Thursday) and offered from mid-June through the end of August every summer. EER's horseback riding and horsemanship riding camps take full advantage of EER's horse facilities, arenas, trails, and top notch staff, and are broken down by age and interest.

Ages 7-14

EER's Intro to Horsemanship camp for youth is a wonderful 4 day experience for beginners crazy about horses and wanting to learn more! As a day program it also offers the added benefit of many classic camp activities like meeting and making new friends, group games, services, and more, all with other kids who are all there to learn about horses. This camp course allows children who have never been around horses or those who have a very limited horse background to gain a strong foundation and understanding of horsemanship before diving into lessons and/or ownership. This course has limited riding, but offers a fun and exciting whole-horse experience.

Camp Sessions

A typical camp day is filled with barn chores like prepping grain and hay for the horses in the barn and pastures and watering and mucking stalls afterward. Then, it is on to the fun activities which involve one-on-one contact with the horses as you learn safety, anatomy, horsemanship and how to groom and tack them for riding. Additionally, you will learn all about horse behavior and the various breeds; the difference between English and Western riding styles; and how to walk, trot and even canter (if comfortable) any horse in any style.

All EER activities emphasize safety and confidence. All lessons both classroom and riding lessons are facilitated by quality, caring, and trained Horsemanship Staff under the supervision of a senior staff member. Campers will spend time at the barn and arena daily participating in teachings learning about horse care and learning to ride. Daily teachings allow Campers the opportunity to experience the beauty of horsemanship from horses point of view and spend time with other campers and staff. Campers also participate in arena riding lessons in which fundamental riding skills are taught through instruction, practice, and fun mounted games designed to reinforce skills taught during each lesson.
